Infineon Technologies has retained the global number one position in automotive semiconductors for the sixth consecutive year, according to TechInsights’ 2025 Automotive Semiconductor Vendor Market Share report.

The global automotive semiconductor market grew to $74.4 billion in 2025, up from $69.9 billion in 2024. Infineon’s share came in at 12.8%, down slightly from 13.2% the prior year, though TechInsights data shows the company widened the gap to the second-place competitor. Infineon leads in China, Europe and South Korea, and ranks second in North America and Japan.

The more notable movement was in microcontrollers. Infineon’s automotive microcontroller share rose to 36.0% in 2025, up 3.9 percentage points year-on-year, extending its lead over the next competitor. Automotive microcontrollers handle real-time control in electric drivetrains, ADAS systems and software-defined vehicle architectures—the segments driving much of the growth in automotive semiconductor demand.

“Our persistent number one position demonstrates our ability to address the key trends toward software-defined vehicles and drivetrain electrification,” said Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer Automotive. “The extension of our leadership in strategic domains such as microcontrollers underlines our innovative strength.”

Infineon first reached the top global ranking in 2020.
